Well. That was something.
Our first session in Hytale went about as chaotically as you’d expect from a crew jumping into a brand new game blind. We spawned into a procedurally generated world, spent ten minutes arguing about which direction to explore, and then got wiped by a dungeon we absolutely were not ready for.
What Went Wrong
- We skipped the tutorial and had no idea how the combat system worked
- Someone aggro’d a dungeon boss in the first ten minutes — no spoilers on who
- Zero coordination on gear — half the crew was still punching trees when the fighting started
What We Learned
- Read the combat tooltips — the ability system has actual depth, use it
- Scout first, fight later — the world is big and not all of it scales to you
- Stick together on the same server instance or you’ll spend half the session lost
Next Session Goals
- Set up a proper crew base before doing any dungeon runs
- Get everyone kitted with at least basic gear
- Actually attempt a dungeon — properly this time
Rough start but an incredible game. The world feels alive in a way that’s hard to describe until you’re in it. More recaps coming as we get deeper. 🌟
